Thursday Evening Face2Face

Well people - looks like there is some small amount of critical mass around getting together Thursday afternoon/evening. The first pre-IxDA Conference Face 2 Face - the pre-party party - the early bird special. Soon to become a tradition, I am sure.

We are looking for a consensus about:
1. Where we should meet (I am at the Hilton Garden Inn).
2. Where we should go...
3. What time we should meet.

I will be @ the Hilton after 3pm on Thursday.

I don't mind being the person that organizes this cat herding event - but I want everyone to chime in with ideas.

Okay - so those are some pubs/meeting houses in downtown Savannah. But we are not limited to that - any other ideas are welcome....

 

Shall we get together casually for those who can meet in the afternoon?

Across the steet from The Hilton is a great eclectic coffee shop. It's the only coffee shop in Savannah that also serves wine. Couldn't have been planned any better :) I'll be there at 3, and people can just come on by as they get in to town.

We should probably come up with a dinner meeting plan, and bar/night meeting plan.

I've only been to Savannah once, so I'm not sure of any really great places to eat or things to do, but I'm certainly open to trying them! I'll be at the Hilton Garden Inn Savannah Historic - is that the same one as you Will? I'll be arriving at the airport around 12:30 - so I'll be there as soon as a cab can get me to the hotel. So we'll meet at the cafe around 3:30? Sounds good to me! It will be so exciting to meet you all.

I'm not sure if they are still doing it, but The American Legion on Bull and Park used to have a hoppin' ladies night on Thursday evenings, and The Jinx always had a pretty sweet 80s night. Lauren Briana would likely know better than me, as she was a regular there :)

 

Good recommendations Jon. We'll try to get something of a plan together based on people's interests by next Tuesday/Wednesday :-)

Okay - just kidding. No Foucault this weekend. I want evil bring him up.

Don - the evening is pretty unstructured at this point - so it may well go from 730 - 1030 depending on when people show.

 

perhaps we should plan for a casual dinner? suggestions:

Vinnie's- the best pizza you will ever try
Sakura- A laid back sushi restaraunt that won't hurt the pocket

Both are very close to hotels and in walking distance of bars for those who like beverages of the adult variety. Thoughts? Preferences?

 

I can be in downtime Savannah by 6ish so I'll join everyone for dinner :)

 

It'll be closer to 6 before I can get downtown, too, so I'll show for dinner. Mmm... pizza?

(ps. it would be nice if the drinking place was close to the eating place for those of us who aren't sure how long it'll take us to get places... that way if we miss y'all in one spot, we won't waste a bunch of time getting to another spot. i'm just saying.)

 

Point taken Tori - fear not - by next week we will actually have a better hold on places, times, and directions - I will make sure of it - I will also share my contact info - and blog from my cell phone so people coming in at strange hours - or just not knowing their way around - will be able to find the IxDA hoard.

Smart thinking Tori! Downtown is very very small. The pizza place is about a 1 minute walk from the street that has all the bars. Also, I'll certainly shuffle anyone around in my van who needs it :)
