Pre-cons ... Whatchya think?

I'd love if people would comment here about what they got out of the first day of pre-con workshops. What were the highlight words of wisdom you received?

First of all, thanks for a great set of interactive workshop. Really had a difficult time choosing, because they were all interesting. Just like the rest of the conference by the way!

The agile design workshop was interesting and the presenter(s) were skilled and communicative. Some overall trouble with low voice levels of the presenters in the room in RC though. Interaction through workshop was good, but not properly managed if you ask me (there was a lot of confusion).

Interactive workshops were great. I especially took to Todd's Paper Prototyping session. I think everyone learned a great deal and had lots of fun along the way. This is always an optimistic method for organizations, in my opinion, and never seems to find it's way into the process. I know I will make some immediate changes upon my return. Thanks again!

I'll give you my take on the workshops that I took:

Effect Maps for Interaction Designers - Darja Isaksson
- you can make a change in your work environment by actually tying Effect Maps to ROI, selling them internally and expressing them as client deliverables.

I can definitely see this as a useful tool, but I believe these need to be adapted to the everyday-business practice in order for them to be usable.

Paper Prototyping - Todd Warfel
- impressed beyond belief, and a new found evangelist of what a designer could do with paper (and some scotch tape, some floss and imagination).

I can sell this internally with ease. I loved the presentation and the hands-on approach that Todd took to this workshop.
